My Favourite Podcasts

by - February 21, 2018

I began working in October and my office is a 40 minute walk from where I live. I needed something to keep me going on cold, rainy days when the walk felt a million miles further than when the sun was shining. This was when I discovered podcasts.

To me, podcasts are revolutionary, and there are so many great ones out there now. I tend to enjoy the health, wellbeing and sciencey podcasts most, and here's a list of my absolute favourites (in no particular order):

1. Fit and Fearless
I've been following the Girl Gains before they were even the Girl Gains and I adore these three. They are all super inspirational and their stories really resonate with me. Everything they do I'm straight there, so when I found out they were bringing out a podcast I couldn't wait! Every Thursday morning I listen to them discuss health and fitness and I couldn't love it any more. If you are looking for some inspiration and empowerment, this is the podcast for you.

2. The Naked Scientists
The Naked Scientists produce some amazing content, covering a huge array of scientific topics. I'm from a science background, which is why this pod appealed to me, but they really are suitable for anyone. If you want to know why we think puppies are cute, if lobsters feel pain or more about that recent science discovery in the news, you should check this one out.

3. Feel Better, Live More
I first saw Dr Rangan Chatterjee on his TV programme, Doctor in the House, and I've closely followed his work since then. After experiencing a few health issues in the past, I've been a huge advocate for the powers of healthy eating, exercise and relaxation and Dr Chatterjee is a great example of a qualified professional who holds the same mindset. Each week he talks to a guest, discussing health topics with solid scientific backing. It's great if you want to delve into the world of holistic medicine while also knowing the advice is from a reliable source.

4. Talking Tastebuds
I found this podcast after listening to Venetia's interview with Deliciously Ella. Each week, Venetia interviews a familiar face from the fitness, health and wellbeing industry. I'm an avid follower of fitness instagrammers, health documentaries and all things wellbeing, so this podcast really appeals to me! The interviews also help you to really get to know those involved, which I think is nice. Definitely a great lighthearted listen.

5. The Whey Box Podcast
I came across this podcast through one of the hosts, Tally Rye, on her instagram. I adore Tally and all the content she produces - she is brilliant at female empowerment, health, fitness, beauty, and she has such a lovely voice to listen to! The Whey Box podcast also follows the interview structure with health and fitness professionals, which is really enjoyable. They also delve into the stories and personal lives of those being interviewed, and I love hearing the stories of how people like you and I got to where they are today.
